A Message from the Chief Operating Officer

It seems like just weeks ago I was writing my article for the summer edition of We Need Not
Walk Alone. As I reflect on the last year, I am continually reminded of all of you who work
tirelessly and give of your time in memory of your precious children, grandchildren and/or
siblings. I was very grateful for the opportunity to meet more of our TCF family members at
                                 our Scottsdale Conference in July.

Alan and I and the entire National Office staff continue in our work to serve grieving families,
and as there are number of new developments in our efforts, I wanted to use this chance to
                                 share them with you.

As you may have read on our website, Facebook pages and/or e-newsletters, we have been working for many months on the
development of TCF’s new website. At the time of my writing this article, we’re scheduled to “go live” in just a few days. Our
priority from the beginning has been to make sure that all visitors to our site feel a sense of comfort, support and kinship
as soon as they visit our home page. You’ll find a new design, layout, and expanded and improved content. Our website
will now also be more mobile-friendly and easier to access via your cell phone, and we’ve examined each page carefully to
ensure that finding assistance and information is simple and stress-free. Our wish is that this new site will be a renewed
source of help, and we look forward to sharing it with you.

I would like to welcome Kathie DeBow to our TCF family. Kathie is TCF’s new Director of Development, and has the
important task of raising funds for TCF, along with Alan and me. Kathie comes to us from JDRF, where she spent ten years
raising funds and managing the JDRF One Walk (formerly the Ron Santo Walk to Cure Diabetes). Kathie is married and
has 2 daughters, and we’re very happy to have her with us.

In his message, Alan talked about another change that we’ll be making in the production of this magazine. We’re very
proud of the rich history of our magazine, and we’ll continue to produce it with the same care and consideration as we
always have. Rather than a print issue, this digital version will be available on our website for everyone, and we’ll be sharing
our publication schedule with you soon. We Need Not Walk Alone will always be a labor of love for everyone who works on
it, and that remains a constant.

As always, it’s our hope that the contents of our magazine provide you with support and comfort as the holidays draw near.
If you’re interested in participating in a local Candle Lighting event on December 11th, please don’t hesitate to contact us at
the National Office and we’ll assist you in finding the one closest to you. All of us at the National Office are here to help you
during the holidays and throughout the year.

Wishing you peace this holiday season.

Lisa
