My Path

I have this path before me

that only I can see

and I must enter bravely

though frightened I may be

This pathway is named Sorrow

deep sadness fills the air

at times my feet may stumble

I fall down in despair

So I must walk it slowly

as shadows circle ’round

cannot look too far ahead

I’m on uneven ground

But I will face the sadness

embrace it like a friend

it is now a part of me

and will be till the end

I’ll walk into the darkness

I will not run and hide

for even with the sadness

there’s beauty on each side.

  • We discover beauty in the darkness as well as the light. When the feelings overwhelm, we must continue to walk the path. Though our hearts are heavy with sadness our fierce love for our beloved beckons us to press on the journey. Where we will arrive is not our concern. All we know is we must continue the walk.
