The following national nonprofit organizations have missions which are similar to that of The Compassionate Friends

AARP– American Association of Retired People Grief and Loss program includes online articles, publications, support groups, and discussion boards on coping with the loss of a family member.

ACCESS – Aircraft Casualty Emotional Support Service provides peer grief support and resource information to those who have survived or lost loved ones in air disasters.

Actively Moving Forward® (AMF) – provides grieving young adults, aged 18-30, a community of like-minded individuals seeking to be heard, feel supported, and wanting empowerment through their grief journey. An App community member has full access to facilitated virtual support groups, tools, resources, reading, videos, supportive quotes, community engagement via direct messaging, group chats, posts, and interactive comment boards monitored by bereavement care professionals. Communities are available for individuals aged over 30 and professionals seeking to serve best, individuals bereaved.

AFSP – American Foundation for Suicide prevention is dedicated to advancing knowledge of suicide and the ability to prevent it, and in supporting those who are bereaved after suicide loss.

Alive Alone – designed to benefit bereaved parents whose only child or all children have died by providing a self-help network and newsletter to promote communication and healing.

BPUSA – Bereaved Parents of the USA has chapters across the country that help grieving parents and families rebuild their lives after the death of a child.

Center for Loss in Multiple Births – by and for parents who have experienced the death of one or more children during a multiple pregnancy, at birth, and through childhood.

Comfort Zone Camp – No charge nonprofit camp for siblings and children (age 7-17) coping with the loss of a sibling or parent

griefHaven – griefHaven dedicated to assisting parents who have lost a child, as well as family members, friends, professionals, and those who want to lend their support but don’t know how.

GriefShare – GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.

HealGrief® – is a social support network connecting grieving individuals to others while providing the tools and resources to guide one’s journey with grief into a healthy post bereavement growth. Everything they do is inspired by their core belief that no one should ever grief alone!

Hospice Foundation of America – includes information about hospice care and programs including bereavement support for families using hospice.

Let’s Talk Death – are video/podcast recordings of conversations exploring topics that may feel relevant to our lives with various industry leaders, authors, and individuals who have a deep understanding of grief. The show informs and inspires and is about issues related to grief and loss. It’s time to take the taboo out of death, dying, and grief.

Live Another Day – Live Another Day believes in equal access to life-saving mental health and substance use resources. This website provides extensive information on the best resources available.

The LLost Foundation – To support, by all means possible, those left behind after the loss of a loved one to a sudden tragedy.

MADD – Mothers Against Drunk Drivers has a mission to to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking.

My Miscarriage Matters – provides support to the survivors of miscarriage, stillbirth, and early infant loss, while increasing awareness around those devastating and heartbreaking issues.

National Center for Victims of Crime (local assistance Connect Directory) provides a fast and easy way to locate crime victim assistance in a wide variety of jurisdictions throughout the country. Simply provide as much information as possible and hit the search button to find crime victim assistance organizations near you.

National SIDS Resource Center – provides information services and technical assistance on sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and related topics.

NFDA – National Funeral Directors Association provides many grief resources for coping with the death of a child within the family.

NILMDTS – Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation’s national network of photographers donate time and materials to preserve precious memories through photographs taken at the hospital when a baby has died at birth.

Open to Hope – a non-profit foundation with the mission of helping people find hope after loss. We invite you to read, listen and share your stories of hope and compassion.

POMC – Parents Of Murdered Children provides support and assistance to all survivors of homicide victims while working to create a world free of murder.

SHARE Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support – SHARE’s mission is to serve those who are touched by the tragic death of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or newborn death.

SIDS Network – Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Network offers latest information, as well as support, for those who have been touched by the tragedy of SIDS/OID (other infant death).

SOS – Survivors of Suicide helps those who have lost a loved one to suicide to resolve their grief and pain in their own personal way.

SUDC – Sudden Unexplained Death In Childhood Program offers support, information, advocacy, and research opportunities for those touched by the sudden and unexplained death of a child (over 12 months of age).

The Summit Wellness Group – Written and curated by women of color, this guide features over 60 resources for BIPOC folx.

TAPS – Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors is made up of, and provides services to, all those who have lost a loved one while serving the country in the Armed Forces.

Thiravive.com – Theravive is a network of licensed therapists and psychologists committed to helping people receive the best mental health care available. Through building bridges with others, they continually strive to lower mental health stigma.

Twinless Twins – serves in support of twins (and all multiple births) who suffer from the loss of companionship of their twin through death, estrangement, or in-utero loss.
