This is my son, Christopher Calvird, who lived on the streets as a Christian Missionary in San Francisco, Ca. He spent the last decade of his life sharing the gospel with his community and hoped to become a pastor with his own church. Sadly, he struggled with mental illness and battled with alcohol and drugs. 3 weeks after his 29th birthday he was found alone in a ‘Praying Position’ inside Golden Gate Park. He had succumbed to his disease of addiction and later we learned that Fentanyl was the culprit. For years, I watched my son suffer and for years I tried everything I could to save him. But he was tortured by his demons. Countless interventions, rehab programs and other ongoing medical services came to no avail. In the end, he couldn’t make his dreams become a reality in this life. But I believe wholeheartedly that God knew his hopes & intentions and he now has found everlasting life in the kingdom of heaven. The suffering is over, the demons have been silenced and his tormented soul is at peace. As his mother, the only thing that gives me just an ounce of comfort, is knowing that he is now with Jesus.
