In Loving Memory

In Loving Memory of Rebecca Lixia Halbert

Rebecca Lixia left this life in 2021 at age 16. In all things, she pursued a passion for understanding her world and the nature of the universe. She was blessed with a wicked wit, and talent in all things she loved including astronomy, chess, computer games and programming, digital art, photography, rock climbing, swimming and water polo. Rebecca loved nature and animals, and would have lived outside if she could have. A natural engineer, she designed and built many creations. With her church youth group she enjoyed building houses in Mexico, singing around bonfires, and deep philosophical discussions. Rebecca endured many painful surgeries and treatments for her cleft lip and palate. Perhaps as a result, she was profoundly sensitive and compassionate, and cared deeply for inclusion and justice for the outsider and the vulnerable.
