Compassionate Employer Recognition

Important Notice: It has always been the goal of The Compassionate Friends to encourage businesses large and small to show support to their employees following the death of a child. During the past nine years, we have recognized 515 employers that have been nominated by employees who, in the face of personal tragedy, have seen their employers go above the norm with their caring and compassionate practices.

While there are thousands of additional businesses that also deserve to be nominated and receive Compassionate Employer Recognition, our CER program has certainly started a movement of compassion in the face of tragedy that was not present in the same numbers a decade ago. Designed to be a finite program, the CER program has now reached a point where we must reflect upon the good that has been accomplished as we move our emphasis toward other initiatives within the bereavement community, our chapters, and our membership.

The Compassionate Friends wants to thank the hundreds of volunteers from around the country who have helped our staff to carry through this program, even as the number of recipient companies has grown from three the first year to more than 140 this year. Your help is so truly appreciated. Thank you to those of you who have taken the time to nominate your company for this recognition. And thank you to the wonderful companies that have taken bereavement in the workplace out of the Stone Age and created a hospitable environment for their employees that says, “We understand and we will help you however we can!”
