Communities across the globe will be joining in The Compassionate Friends 17th Worldwide Candle Lighting on December 8, 2013.

You are invited to provide us information about your Worldwide Candle Lighting event for posting so people in your area will know of your service (open to the public) and be able to attend. Please complete the Worldwide Candle Lighting Information Form.  Note: we reserve the right to edit all submissions.

Alexandria
Alexandria Area and MISS Support Group

Date & Time: December 8, 2013 - 6:30 PM
Location: First Congregational United Church of Christ, 221 7th Avenue West, Alexandria, MN
Highlights: Beautiful live vocal performances by Tony Pitschka and Kim Byrne, harp music, poetry, lighting of the memorial candles and reading of the children's names, and reflection time.
Bring: Families are invited to display special mementos or framed photos in the rear of the church at 6:00 PM.
Special Events (before): Family/friends arrive between 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM to display and share mementos. 
Special Events (after): Family and friends are encouraged to gather after the service for refreshments and fellowship.
Additional: To be sensitive to the families attending, the back two rows of the chapel will be reserved those with very small children. We ask that all children who are not able to sit quietly through the service, be cared for in the church nursery (which will be staffed with babysitters and offered free of charge).

Apple Valley
The Compassionate Friends South of the River Chapter

Highlights: Music, readings, and candle lighting.
Bring: Framed picture for our pictures table and snack to share.
Special Events (after): Snacks, coffee, and tea after program. 
Additional: If severe weather forces cancellation, we will have a small ceremony at our regular December meeting on December 17th.

Rockford MN Compassionate Friends Chapter

Highlights: Special music, each parent will light a candle and say his/her child's name aloud.
Bring: Please bring a framed picture or small remembrance of your child to be placed on the front table. If you have a special reading, poem, or short anecdote about your child, there will be time for this. Candles will be provided.
Special Events (after): After the candle lighting please join us for a time of fellowship and refreshments.

Hutchinson
The Compassionate Friends of the Hutchinson Area

Date & Time: December 8, 2013 - 6:30 PM
Location: Dobratz/Hantge Funeral Chapel, Hwy 15 South, Hutchinson, MN
Highlights: Speaker, special music featuring guitar and vocals, lighting of the candles and reading of our children’s names, with refreshments following the program.
Bring: Attendees should bring a framed photo or small remembrance of their child (the photo must be able to stand alone by having an easel style back).
Special Events (after): We will have refreshments and holiday cookies as well as a Compassionate Friends sheet cake.
Additional: We will start promptly at 6:45 PM and will conclude by 9:00 PM.

Maplewood
The Compassionate Friends St. Paul Chapter  

Date & Time: December 8, 2013 - 6:30 PM
Location: Beaver Lake Lutheran Church, 2280 Stillwater Avenue, Maplewood, MN
Highlights: Live music by Tami Briggs, therapeutic harpist; Michelle-Marie and Melissa Faeger, singer and piano accompanist. There will be a PowerPoint presentation of our children, siblings, and grandchildren. There will also be readings appropriate to our program.
Bring: Please bring a treat to share (nothing that needs heating, please) - it could be your loved one's favorite. Bring a picture or small remembrance of your child, sibling, or grandchild. We are having a PowerPoint presentation of our children’s pictures to show during the program. If you have not done so in previous years, please send a copy of a photo to Marlene Keyser (who does this in loving memory of her son, John) in a .jpg file to calsgram@q.com or mail it to her at 1885 Quebec Street, Centerville, MN 55038 no later than DECEMBER 1st. I hope you will send pictures for this – it is always an especially beautiful addition to our program 
Special Events (after): There will be a gathering following the program with refreshments brought by our attendees - beverages will be provided.
Additional: Candles will be provided. Please bring something to share that does not need heating, i.e. a baked good, treat, snack, appetizer, etc. - could be your loved ones favorite. Bring a picture or small remembrance of your child, sibling, or grandchild to set on the table in the activities room. Where to send pictures for PowerPoint presentation will be revealed at a later date. Our photo button machine (machine purchased for our chapter by the Price's in loving memory of their son Ian) will be at the program that evening. Bring copy of picture only, on regular white copy paper, not heavy paper, do not cut it out but allow for a 3" button.

Bring: Pictures or other remembrances of your children, grandchildren, or siblings and a special candle to light in the memory of your child.

Red Lake Falls

Location: Memorial Gazebo (near Riverside Park - weather permitting) on Hwy 32/Main and Bridge Streets, Red Lake Falls, MN (If inclement weather, will be held at St. Joseph Parish Center, 112 Edward Avenue NW, Red Lake Falls.)
Highlights: Welcome message, special reading, candle lighting/reading of names w/music, special song: "Precious Child," closing, and invitation for refreshments.
Bring: Picture or small remembrance and name of loved one for display board if desired. Candles will be provided. 
Special Events (after): Refreshments served at St. Joseph Parish Center with opportunity to look through TCF lending library and materials. Displaying of pictures.
Additional: An invitation is not required. All families that have experienced the death of a child, sibling, or grandchild are welcome, as are friends. This event takes the place of the regular December 17th meeting.

The Compassionate Friends of Rochester Area Chapter

Highlights: The evening begins at 6:00 PM with sign-in. Special desserts along with cider and coffee will be served during the social time. The program begins at 6:45 PM with beautiful music as well as readings by our members, followed by lighting of candles in remembrance of our children; you may bring a picture or small remembrance of your child to place on the table as well as a special candle.

Special Events (before): Special desserts with apple cider and coffee served from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM.
