Communities across the globe will be joining in The Compassionate Friends 13th Worldwide Candle Lighting on December 13, 2009.

You are invited to provide us information about your Worldwide Candle Lighting event for posting so people in your area will know of your service and be able to attend. Please complete the Worldwide Candle Lighting Information Form.  Note: we reserve the right to edit all submissions.

IMPORTANT: If you attempt to submit your candle lighting service and we do not contact you or your service is not listed within 24 hours, please contact Joan@compassionatefriends.org.

Hastings – Hastings Area Chapter of The Compassionate Friends

Date & Time: December 13, 2009 6:45 PM
Location: First St. Paul's Youth Center, 918 4th St, Hastings, NE (on the southwest corner of the block by the First St. Paul's Lutheran Church - enter the west door)
Highlights: Readings, music (recorded), and the reading of children's names.
Bring: Please bring your own candle to be lit in memory of your child. If you have a poem or short reading you would like to share, you are welcome to add to the meaning of the evening. Each family is asked to bring a snack to share if able.
Special Events (before): You are invited to visit our Children's Memorial Garden south of the Hastings Museum on 12th and Burlington before the candle lighting service. First St. Paul's is seven blocks south on Burlington from the museum. 
Special Events (after): We will have fellowship and share our snacks. Tableware and beverages will be provided by the chapter.

Lexington – Lexington Area Chapter of The Compassionate Friends

Highlights: Readings, special music, and each family will have the opportunity to tell about their child while they light their candle.
Bring: Picture or remembrance of your child, a candle, and refreshments.
Special Events (before): Gather at 6:30 in the fellowship hall, candle lighting at 7:00, sharing time and refreshments to follow.

North Platte – North Platte Chapter of The Compassionate Friends

Date & Time: December 13, 2009 6:30 PM with candles being lit at 7:00 PM
Location: First United Methodist Church, 1600 West E Street, North Platte, NE
Highlights: Program will include music, poems, and the candle lighting ceremony. If you are able you come to light your candle and say your child's name.
Bring: Please bring a small photo or small remembrance, candle with votive holder, and a card with your child's name to place on the table with candle and photo.
Special Events (before): We will gather at 6:30 PM and light candles at 7:00 PM.
Special Events (after): After lighting the candles, we will have punch and cookies and you are encouraged to share with others who have attended.
Additional: In case of bad weather call before coming to make sure the event is still happening. Or listen to KXNP/KODY radio for cancelations.
