2009 Annual Worldwide Candle Lighting Services - Maine
Communities across the globe will be joining in The Compassionate Friends 13th Worldwide Candle Lighting on December 13, 2009.
You are invited to provide us information about your Worldwide Candle Lighting event for posting so people in your area will know of your service and be able to attend. Please complete the Worldwide Candle Lighting Information Form. Note: we reserve the right to edit all submissions.
IMPORTANT: If you attempt to submit your candle lighting service and we do not contact you or your service is not listed within 24 hours, please contact Joan@compassionatefriends.org.

Auburn – Lewiston Maine Chapter of The Compassionate Friends
Date & Time: December 13, 2009 6:30-8:00 PM
Location: St. Philips Church, Route 4, Auburn, ME (the church is across from Lake Auburn)
Highlights: We will have two special young women perform beautiful songs. There will be poems read by their authors.
Bring: Pictures or memento of your child for our remembrance table.
Special Events (after): Refreshments will be served. We will be making a special Christmas ornament in memory of your child. We will also have photo buttons available for those wishing to bring a picture of your child, for this purpose.
Additional: Please plan to arrive at 6:30 as we will be lighting the candles (provided by Village Candle) promptly at 7:00 PM.

Houlton – Southern Aroostook Chapter of The Compassionate Friends
Date & Time: December 13, 2009 6:30-8:00 PM
Location: Cary Library, 107 Main St, Houlton, ME
Highlights: We will gather before 7:00 PM so we all have our candles lit by 7:00 PM. There will be a speaker, readers, & music.
Bring: Attendees are invited to bring a photo or remembrance of their loved one. We will laminate the photos and they can be hung on a lighted tree outside the library where the service will be held. Please wear warm clothes.
Special Events (after): Light refreshments will follow in library.

Portland – The Center for Grieving Children

Location: The Parish Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church, 580 Forest Ave, Portland, ME
Highlights: Readings, music, and lighting of candles in honor of each child.
Bring: Picture or remembrance of your loved one.

Wiscasset – Wiscasset Community Center
Date & Time: December 13, 2009 6:30 PM
Location: Wiscasset Community Center, 242 Gardiner Rd, Wiscasset, ME (approx. one mile from route #1 heading north on route #27, driveway on left just before Wiscasset High School)
Highlights: We will have soft music. Anyone is invited to read poems or anything to make this event special for you.
Bring: Please bring candles (we will have extras), photos and any memory items that you want to share.
Special Events (before): We will serve light refreshments before and after the candle lighting. Please feel free to bring something to share.
Special Events (after): Bring any special memories that you wish to share. Please remember that all family members are invited including grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc.
