Communities across the globe will be joining in The Compassionate Friends 13th Worldwide Candle Lighting on December 13, 2009.
You are invited to provide us information about your Worldwide Candle Lighting event for posting so people in your area will know of your service and be able to attend. Please complete the Worldwide Candle Lighting Information Form. Note: we reserve the right to edit all submissions.
IMPORTANT: If you attempt to submit your candle lighting service and we do not contact you or your service is not listed within 24 hours, please contact Joan@compassionatefriends.org.

Granby – Our Children's Garden

Location: Salmon Brook Park, Granby, CT (Off of Rt. 10 just south of Granby center. Drive into park and the memorial garden is on the right)
Highlights: We have a brief ceremony that includes some readings, candle lighting and reciting the names of our children. This is a memorial garden for children of Granby families but anyone is welcome to join us and we will include your child's name in our ceremony.
Bring: A candle in a votive holder or a jar.

Northford – Shoreline Chapter of The Compassionate Friends

Location: Northford Congregational Church, 16 Olde Post Rd, Northford, CT (intersection of Route 17 & 22)
Highlights: Our program includes music provided by one of our families, readings by members, reading of children's names, and presentation of a rose to each family.
Bring: Picture or remembrance of child and finger food.
Special Events (before): Attendees gather around 2:30 PM, opportunities for Love Gifts, information to view.
Special Events (after): Reception following candle lighting, each family receives memento of service.

Stamford – Stamford Chapter of The Compassionate Friends

Location: Tully Center, Strawberry Hill Court, Stamford, CT (outside in the Meditation Garden)
Highlights: Video of children will be shown after the candle lighting.
Bring: Please bring a picture if it's not in the video or remembrance.
Special Events (after): After candle lighting, we will have refreshments inside the auditorium.

Trumbull – Memory of Downtown Tony Brown and all children who have died.
Date & Time: December 13, 2009 6:30 PM
Location: Due to the weather we will be holding the ceremony INSIDE the Trumbull Town Hall (in the court room), 5866 Main St, Trumbull, CT (signs will be posted to direct you where to go)
Highlights: I remember bracelets and candle lighting buttons available. Lighting of candles at 7:00 PM, reading of names, speakers, and possible video presentation of photos of our loved ones.
Bring: Battery operated candle in case the event is held indoors. Photo or remembrance of child is desired.
Special Events (before): Passing out candles, buttons, bracelets, sharing stories.
Special Events (after): Light refreshments served indoors after candle lighting.
Additional: Please email if you will be attending and would like your loved one recognized during the ceremony. You can also email me a photo (or 2) to be included in a video montage. If you would like to do a reading or publicly share a story please email me with the information. Suggestions for music to be played will also be considered. Please join us for this special evening as bereaved families come together to honor and remember all of our children who have gone to soon. The lighting of the candles will be at 7:00 PM but suggest you come early to find us, get your candle, bracelet, and browse the pamphlets. We have about 100 battery operated candles but we suggest you bring your own in case we do not have enough.
