2009 Annual Worldwide Candle Lighting Services - Arizona

Communities across the globe will be joining in The Compassionate Friends 13th Worldwide Candle Lighting on December 13, 2009.

You are invited to provide us information about your Worldwide Candle Lighting event for posting so people in your area will know of your service and be able to attend. Please complete the Worldwide Candle Lighting Information Form.  Note: we reserve the right to edit all submissions.

IMPORTANT: If you attempt to submit your candle lighting service and we do not contact you or your service is not listed within 24 hours, please contact Joan@compassionatefriends.org.

Cottonwood – Verde Valley Chapter of The Compassionate Friends

Highlights: Special tribute to siblings, guest speakers include Mayor Diane Joens among others, live music by EF band, poems, etc.
Bring: We will have a special tribute table - bring a picture or remembrance of your loved ones.

Lake Havasu City – Journey from Mourning to JOY Support Group

Highlights: Special music, a cappella choir, hand bell choir, ballet, slide presentation, special message of hope, candle lighting. Candles will be provided.

Payson – Rim Country Chapter of The Compassionate Friends

Date & Time: December 13, 2009 6:45-8:00 PM
Location: Green Valley Park, Payson, AZ (East on Main St until you see the lake. Turn right and park just past the Zane Grey cabin)
Highlights: A short program will begin at 6:45 followed directly by our candle lighting walk around Green Valley Park Lake from 7 to 8 PM. The lake is 0.6 miles around. Some people just light their candles and mingle around the coffee and hot chocolate while others walk one, two or more times around the lake. It has been extremely cold the last two years so be sure to bundle up. 
Bring: Candles will be provided for all attendees. Dress warmly!

Prescott Valley – Trinity Lutheran Church

Date & Time: December 13, 2009 7:00 PM
Location: Trinity Lutheran Church, 3950 N Valorie Dr, Prescott Valley, AZ (our back entrance is easier to find: off Lakeshore Dr between Robert Rd and Navajo Dr - turn in at the marque by the God's World childcare building, then go to your left towards the sanctuary. Parking is in the lower level or upper level)
Highlights: Special scripture readings, reading of children's names during the service. Pictures or remembrances of loved ones can be displayed in the lower level and there will be a time for sharing and light refreshments following the service in the lower level.

Sierra Vista – Sierra Vista Regional Center CARE Program

Location: Ramada 3 (1st ramada to right) Veterans Memorial Park, Sierra Vista, AZ
Highlights: Remembrance table, chaplain reading, slide show, songs, and reading of names.
Bring: Memorabilia of child to be placed on remembrance table.

Highlights: Key-note speaker, Mike Miller of TCF's west-side chapter will share an encouraging message of hope. Special readings and Desert Echo Flute Section of Mesa Community College to perform.
Bring: Please bring a picture or remembrance of your child to display on our memorial table.
Special Events (before): "Precious Child Memorial Slide-Show" presentation.
Special Events (after): TCF memorial candles will be provided to all who attend. Light refreshments will be served following our ceremony.

Highlights: Poems, special music, families will say their loved one's name as they light their candle. Hot chocolate will be served.
