2009 Annual Worldwide Candle Lighting Services - Arkansas

Communities across the globe will be joining in The Compassionate Friends 13th Worldwide Candle Lighting on December 13, 2009.

You are invited to provide us information about your Worldwide Candle Lighting event for posting so people in your area will know of your service and be able to attend. Please complete the Worldwide Candle Lighting Information Form.  Note: we reserve the right to edit all submissions.

IMPORTANT: If you attempt to submit your candle lighting service and we do not contact you or your service is not listed within 24 hours, please contact Joan@compassionatefriends.org.

Batesville – North Central Arkansas Chapter of The Compassionate Friends

Date & Time: December 13, 2009 4:00 PM
Location: Riverside Park (at the Children's Memorial Park), Batesville, AR
Highlights: Special music, readings, lighting of luminaries, and decoration of the memorial tree. Luminaries and ribbons will be provided.

Dumas – Desha County Chapter of The Compassionate Friends

Date & Time: December 13, 2009 6:00-8:00 PM
Location: Dumas Community Center, 18 Belmont, Dumas, AR in Desha County
Highlights: There will be a short program with greetings, readings, poems, and musical selections to be presented by compassionate friends and supportive friends. The Worldwide Candle Lighting ceremony is at 7:00 PM.
Bring: Compassionate Friends who would like to have their child's name on the memorial roll or picture on the memory board, may mail the child's name, birth date, death date, picture, and parents name by December 10th to Desha County Compassionate Friends, c/o Brenda Norman, P.O. Box 482, Dumas, AR 71639. All pictures will be returned.
Special Events (before): The event will start at 6:00 PM with the signing of the register.
Special Events (after): The event will end with a banquet. There is no admission fee. Dress attire is casual and semi-formal.
Additional: Please let us know by December 10th, the name of the child/children for whom you will be lighting a candle and how many will be attending with you. Fayetteville – Rolling Hills Baptist Church

Date & Time: December 13, 2009 7:00 PM
Location: Rolling Hills Baptist Church, 1400 Rolling Hills Dr, Fayetteville, AR
Highlights: This is a non-denominational short service that will have readings, special music, and reading of children's names.
Bring: There will be a table for pictures and other remembrances.
Special Events (after): There will be a balloon launch after the service as well as a sharing time with refreshments and snacks.

Mena – Bereaved families in Mena, AR in conjunction with the Worldwide Candle Lighting

Date & Time: December 13, 2009 6:30 PM (doors open at 5:30 PM)
Location: Old National Guard Armory, 601 DeQueen St, Mena, AR
Highlights: Families will say their child's name and light a candle. We will have an American Indian flute player.
Bring: Pictures or remembrances and a finger food like cookies, cake, etc.

Location: Lawrence County Courthouse (lobby), Walnut Ridge, AR
Highlights: Special music, readings, lighting of TCF Christmas tree, professional photographer present. Candles will be provided.
Bring: Pictures or remembrances.
